Ask HN: Are there product podcasts/vlogs that talks about making product?
1 points by iamwil 7 hours ago

How come the product podcasts and YouTubes just talk about the process of doing product/product design, rather than aspects of the products themselves?

Game design podcasts and YouTube focus on the games and game aspects themselves, rather than the process of making games.

I'm looking for a Game Makers Toolkit, Adam Millard, or Extra Credits, but for applications (web, mobile, or desktop).

Surely one can talk about the specifics of building effective feeds, step-minimizing toolbars, or how to get implicit feedback through UI.

Or how to talk to customers and filter for the right context? Do you try to translate their misunderstandings of the problem into application UI, or try to educate them on the problem space?

How does the unit economics of ride sharing affect how rides are booked? Does it change if you’re renting a room? What about ordering food delivery? How does all this affect how you present the price to users?

Someone please point me to those kinds of podcasts/vids (if they exist), rather than more “Navigating the B2C to SaaS transition”, "How to break into product design", “Navigating difficult colleagues” or “Thinking through product strategy.” Is the name a misnomer, and it's someone else's job to figure out what goes into a product besides the product person?

Looking for some good recs along the lines of game design analysis podcasts and vids. Thanks.
