It's "shit" to you. To its creators, it's an awesome piece of software that does exactly what they wanted it to do and is as simple as they wanted it to be. They liked it enough that they thought it was worth sharing here. Maybe they don't need or care about extended attributes, and that's fine. If you want people to work on things they don't care about, you should consider hiring them or sponsoring their work. Either way, remember to thank them for their generosity. They did give you the source code and the freedom to use and modify it, after all. Copyright law says people are entitled to neither. If you won't pay them to get them to work on the features you want, it's entirely within your power to do it yourself. That freedom is not the default, it is a privilege that is given. People should be thankful for it. Even if the code sucked, you have the freedom to read it and learn from its mistakes and see what it does so you can make a better version.
